¿Qué hay detrás de las últimas fotos de Freddie Mercury?

Jim Hutton, pareja de Freddie Mercury, líder de la banda Queen, tomó las últimas fotografías del cantante el 28 de agosto de 1991.

Tres meses después de haber tomado las fotografías, el 24 de noviembre, Mercury falleció a los 45 años, debido a una bronconeumonía que se complicó por el VIH, indica Infobae.

On August 28th 1991, exactly 28 years ago today, Jim Hutton took these photos of Freddie at Garden Lodge \ud83d\udcf7…his last ever known photographs \ud83d\ude1e . “That summer Freddie posed for a camera for the very last time – mine. It happened like this. I was out in the garden photographing some of the flowers in full bloom and Freddie walked towards me. I trained the lens on – he wanted to move back a bit so it wasn’t a close-up. Then he posed while I took four pictures, and he managed a smile for each. He was so pale and drawn that he knew he didn’t look his best, but it didn’t matter a bit; of all the pictures I have of Freddie, those are the ones I love most.” -Jim Hutton . \ud83d\udc49P.S. Seeing these photos and reading those words by Jim always pains me beyond words… but I share them not to focus on his illness (please don’t do that) but to show how he always saw the beauty in every moment and his smile and bravery never waverd…. I love the fact that a cat (who looks like Oscar) is standing next to Freddie and I’d like to think he was having a good time amidst the bloom of the flowers of his beautiful garden…\ud83c\udf38 But most importantly, despite the sadness, I’m still in awe and admiration for Freddie and his superhuman courage to face life head on and muster a smile even through his hardest moments. His smile always stayed on and in that way he even mocked his illness. El día de la fotografía, Freddie tenía 44 años, posó sin su famoso bigote, en el jardín de su casa.

En las imágenes Freddie posa junto a su gato Oscar, quien permaneció a lado del cantante hasta sus últimas horas de vida.

“Ese verano Freddie posó para una cámara por última vez, la mía. Sucedió así. Estaba en el jardín fotografiando algunas de las flores y Freddie caminó hacia mí”, palabras de Hutton que se leen en la publicación de la cuenta de Instagram de un club de fans.

And when the relationship was over Tony was out, but Oscar was to stay. \ud83d\ude01 . \ud83d\ude3b Oscar was a big ginger tom who, according to Peter Freestone, became “the tribe’s patriarch”. \ud83d\udc08\ud83d\udcaa . \ud83d\ude3b Freddie loved his cats so much that he commissioned paintings of every single one of them from Ann Ortman, one of which of Oscar he sent to be auctioned at one of the Queen fan conventions. . \ud83d\ude3b Oscar was a cat who preferred his own company \ud83d\ude0e so the continuing arrival of the feline youngsters to Garden Lodge turned out to intimidate and drive him away from the house. . \ud83d\ude3b The arrival of the latest kitten (I’ll talk about him in another separate post) proved to be the final straw as Oscar started to roam off to visit other homes in the area and adopted one neighbor. He even started sleeping out at night but Freddie didn’t mind. According to Jim Hutton Freddie would say: “If Oscar’s happy, then that’s all that matters.” \ud83d\udc9b . \ud83d\udc49P.S. Doesn’t it just amaze you and warm your heart to know that Freddie was such a selfless and nonpossessive man who always cared more about the happiness of others than his own EVEN when it came to his cats. “Quería que retrocediera, para que no fuera un primer plano. Luego posó mientras yo tomaba cuatro fotos, y sacó una sonrisa para cada una. Estaba tan pálido que sabía que no se veía lo mejor posible, pero no me importó; de todas las fotos que tengo de Freddie, esas son las que más amo“, dijo Jim Hutton.

Fue en 1987 cuando al cantante de “We will rock you”, le diagnosticaron VIH, luchó contra la enfermedad durante dos años e hizo la noticia pública 24 horas antes de morir.

Freddie intentó terminar la relación al enterarse que era portador de VIH, pero Jim Hutton le dijo que lo quería y que no iría a ningún sitio.

Tras la muerte del músico, Jim regresó a Irlanda, su ciudad natal, donde vivió hasta que falleció a los 61 años en el 2010. Hutton escribió el libro “Mercury y yo” para aliviar todo el dolor que sentía.

Freddie Mercury le dejó la mansión Garden Lodge, que aparece en las fotografías, a Mary Austin, la mujer con la que vivió hasta revelar su homosexualidad.
